How To Get Ready For Your University?

It’s the end of your school days. Results are out and gone. So your next hurdle is to set out for the new phase.. to the university and most you may find it challenging to know what all you need to pack to the university and sadly, what all to be left at home. Most of the people would have faced the same dilemma to figure out what should belong to your suitcase and what not to, especially when you are unclear what will be provided by your university accommodation. I can lend you a hand in planning an ideal luggage for a new venture.

FIRSTLY, TAKE IN CLOTHES FOR THE SEASON ONLY.

You don’t need to carry everything you belong to the university, you just need to take in only the clothes for the respective seasons. In the first term, carry only the clothes for autumn/winter. After your Christmas holidays, pack your next set for spring/summer. Otherwise, your room will be clumsy and congested with our own wardrobe. And, don’t forget hangers and clips, just in case you need any.

DON’T EVER FORGET YOUR ID AND ESSENTIAL DOCUMENTS

Make sure that you don’t miss to carry your ID, passport, college enrolment documents and any relevant documents that you may need for admission. It is always better to carry them in one single folder that you won’t misplace them and can easily get to. Keep on adding to the folder, any new documentation is provided, including your logging details and password for the university system.

FOR YOUR KITCHEN

Whether or not yours is a catered hall, I think the following would be super-useful for your kitchen –

Separate plates and cutlery: Find ones that look distinct so that you can avoid people using yours who may not even wash up properly. Maybe it is a good idea not to get some cheap white common ones. Rather go for a set of crockery in a single unique color!

Your cooking accessories: Most of you may not even have ever tried cooking something for yourself before you enter the university. Beware, you can’t survive with the same French fries or chips for long. It is always best to buy something basic and useful for your start-up in a kitchen like a baking tray, tongs, a fish slice, a wooden spoon, a pot with a lid, a frying pan, some kitchen knives, a pair of kitchen scissors, and even a measuring jug. Not just these, many things that you find insignificant may be of high use like Bottle and can openers, Tea towels, bag clips for open bags of crisps or cereal, your own washing up sponge and liquid, and oven gloves are also a must. Gloves may be extremely useful to help to avoid burns.

MEDICINE/FIRST AID KIT AND TOILETRIES

For most us, our parents take the responsibility of these. These care packages with essential medicines, plasters, antiseptic creams, pain balms probably most importantly, cold and flu remedies. You will also need everything, starting from your toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo and even the body lotions of your favorite brand.

Lucky are those who may have an en-suite bathroom with facilities to keep your toiletries, but keep a portable shower bag to avoid misplacing those if you don’t have the facility. Importantly, take a pair of bathroom slippers to avoid walking barefoot on those slippery floors.

STUDY MATERIALS AND STATIONARY

You can, of course, buy these from the university, but it’s still useful to consider what you will actually need during your coursework. You may avail help from some current students to find out what all are needed. Especially, essential ones like course books, grafters, calculators and much more.

DON’T MISS TO CARRY YOUR HOME COMFORTS

Yes. You may find it least important, but it will help you to cope with your homesickness. Take your favorite pics, gifts from your beloved ones, your room posters, and anything that can cherish you. Go decorate your room with your belongings and feel at home.

MAKE YOUR LIFE HAPPENING

Nobody would ever remind you these. But carry these to make your life easier and happening. Speakers – Let your flatmates love you. Some loud music and it can always excite you on your weekend parties. Bedside Lamps and extension cables – gives you heaven when there are not enough plug sockets available.

LEAVE THESE AT HOME

Leave your old school life at home and travel light for your new life with extravaganza. Don’t pack up literally everything that would burden you up in the second year, when you try to move on to a new house.

Woefully, you may have to keep aside your pets, whom you may miss more than your family.

Keep your worries and confusions at home, and set out fresh for a new start with well-set goals and a lot of fun. It’s a new stage where you can meet quite a lot of new friends from different parts of the globe.
